But before talk about the war, I want to talk something about my thought about Japan. Before all the material we touched in this program, Japan is kind of similar with China, the relationship, the family importance and we looks similar. Japanese are strict to everything just like German. After the assigned reading material and the lecture, I learned more about Japanese culture, and more about their population geography. Although I am a Chinese, I did not go through the war time, all my thought about Japan is neutral and I think Japan is a nice country to visit and their have lots of things we can learn.
However, I think I relearned Japan after I read few chapter of this books. I knew many years ago, Japan is a part protected by China just like Korea. However, things changed after First Sino-Japanese War, when Japan beaten China at first time. I learned in high school that Japan learned a lot from Western country when China still did not care about the world changing. I never thought what was going to Japan and they had this huge change. The author said, Japan was a country never let foreigner get into and never let Japanese wen out of the country and from their religion, they thought their are the only human-being in the world, other foreigner are Gaizin which means nonhuman. This thought really scared me. I read some religion book but I never found a group people have similar thought. Another thing I really impressed is one of the conversation of Japanese soldier. The soldier said about how he thought when he saw a Chinese girl and what he did. I won't write the thing here, but I just felt disgusting and I stop reading for a few hours. As a Chinese, I feel anger and unforgivable. But as another place, how Japan changed so many just in 200 years, became one of the larger economy in the world. I think this is what I need to figure out when I am in Japan and I am also curious why Japanese culture changed a lot.
Can't wait to go!
